Dry Eye Light Therapy

If you are suffering from the irritation, itchiness, and redness of dry eyes, your first step is to see your optometrist and to see if they can confirm the cause of your condition. Most common treatments include moisturizing eye drops for immediate relief, and warm compresses to stimulate natural eye lubrication. Neither of these solutions may offer long term or permanent relief to many dry eye sufferers.

Image Plus Laser Eye Centre now offers a new procedure to help elevate the constant and chronic issues of dry eye caused by a very common condition.

Dry Eye - Anatomy DrawingWhat is the Most Common Cause of Dry Eyes?

There are different causes for dry eyes, but the most common and most treatable is a dysfunctional Meibomian Gland. The Meibomian Gland is responsible for secreting oils to keep your eyes hydrated and free of itch. When this gland becomes dysfunctional, these secretions slow down or stop. There are short-term methods of dealing with them, such as eye drops and other treatments, but there is a more permanent procedure you can do to relieve your symptoms.

What is the Treatment Process?
Winnipeg Dry Eye Light Therapy

To stimulate the Meibomian Gland, Image Plus uses the Clarion Lumenis M22 system, applying Intensive Pulse Light Therapy on the lower eye lids. This process can also reduce inflammation alongside the gland stimulation. It’s an excellent way to deal with your chronic dry eyes and offers a far more permanent solution to what you may be using now. Talk to our team in Winnipeg to book a consultation.
