$Laser vision correction is an available alternative to wearing prescription eyeglasses or contact lenses. It is a type of refractive surgery used to correct myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. While not everyone is a candidate for laser vision correction, there are more options today making it accessible to more people.$

Image Plus uses VISX CustomVue™ WaveFront technology providing patients with a personalized treatment based on unique vision requirements. The CustomVue™ WaveFront laser is 25 times more precise than eyeglasses or contacts in correcting vision in each unique eye.

iLASIK is an all-laser procedure whereby the corneal flap is created by a computer-controlled laser, as opposed to a blade (microkeratome). iLASIK, the combination of Intralase® and VISX CustomVue™ WaveFront technology, provides patients with more precise and predictable results.

Some people choose laser eye surgery to pursue career opportunities, such as aviation or law enforcement where corrective lenses are not permitted. Image Plus uses VISX CustomVue™ WaveFront Guided, which is the only treatment accepted by the Canadian Military Air Crew.

Risks are involved with any surgical procedure. That is why Image Plus has not used the microkeratome blade since 2004, when it was the first centre in Western Canada to provide the blade-free technology, iLASIK.

iLASIK:

You will hear different terms used to describe laser eye surgery. Note that Lasik is not the same as iLasik. At Image Plus, iLASIK with Advanced CustomVue WaveFront is the most frequently performed treatment.

iLASIK is an all-laser procedure whereby the corneal flap is created by IntraLase®, a computer-controlled laser (femtosecond laser), as opposed to a blade (microkeratome). The eye is then treated with Advanced CustomVue WaveFront, a laser treatment that is 25 times more precise than eyeglasses or contacts in correcting vision in each unique eye. It is the combination of IntraLase® and VISX CustomVue Wavefront technology that creates the blade-free procedure called iLasik.

iLasik provides patients with safer, more precise, and more predictable results.
iLasik is approved by Health Canada, the FDA and is used by NASA and the U.S. Military.
