My Laser Eye Surgery Story

When I first began thinking I’d like to get laser eye surgery, I was pregnant with my second baby. I had been wearing contact lenses almost 100% of the time.

However, during the pregnancy, I started becoming more contact lens intolerant and therefore had to wear my glasses most of the time. So a few months after I finished breastfeeding my baby, I decided to go for it! And have not regretted it since. I had such a great experience!

My surgery was in the mid-afternoon and by the time I got home around 4:30, the staff’s warning about burning and watering eyes was definitely true! I was sitting on my couch with my eyes closed wearing my eye shields and hoping this part would end soon!

By around 6pm, the burning and watering had almost stopped. Throughout the evening I was able to watch TV, go on the computer, and basically have a “normal” life.

And the next morning when I woke up, I could barely even tell I’d had eye surgery! I was seeing as well as I had with my glasses and had really no pain.

Now three months after my surgery, I have had no complications and I see better than I did with my glasses. The only thing I notice is that my eyes are dry sometimes and I still need to use drops once or twice a day.

I love not having to worry about packing all my contact stuff and glasses when I go away and it’s so nice not to have my kids grabbing at my glasses all the time.

I’m so glad I got this done at this point in my life and love the results I got!
